Introduction
Origin of the Center
Since August 1, 2014, with the merger of the former National Pingtung University of Education and the National Pingtung Institute of Commerce and Technology into National Pingtung University (NPTU), the university has integrated its advantages in higher education, teacher training, and vocational systems. In alignment with the university's vision to enhance international competitiveness, we have made concerted efforts to promote both domestic and foreign language courses and initiatives, aiming to achieve the goal of "benefiting the local community," thereby creating a positive impact for students, industries, society, and the nation, and contributing to the prosperity of Pingtung.
The Chinese Language Center (CLC) was established on August 1, 2005, originally under the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. In response to the university's developmental needs, organizational adjustments were made on February 1, 2020, transferring the Mandarin Chinese division of the Language Center to the Chinese Language Center under the Office of International Affairs. Under the leadership of successive heads, the center has diligently and steadily advanced local language education.
Since its founding, the center has adhered to the educational mission of "guiding students, serving the community, and expanding international cultural exchanges." We have worked together to provide friendly and comprehensive services to every student, the community, and foreign individuals.
Objectives of the Center
The objectives of the center are twofold:
- To promote Mandarin Chinese teaching at the university, enhance the Chinese language proficiency of international students, and broaden their humanistic literacy and global perspectives.
- To provide overseas Chinese and foreign individuals with opportunities and resources to learn Chinese and understand local culture.
